West Coast (California) car from new. Purchased and driven cross-country in 2014 by a merchant marine from Maine. #42 white from the factory, evidence of repaint on part of the right rear door at some point prior to my ownership. The rest of the car is entirely original paint. I considered stripping and repainting it but it's too good to do that, and besides "it's only original once."
I replaced much of the interior with the seats, carpets, rear deck carpet, and rear side panels from a 93 240. The seats are the charcoal grey/black cloth material that was OEM in 1993. The door panels appear to be original from an 82 Turbo. The upper dash assembly was replaced with a later-model cover prior to my ownership.
4-speed manual + OD. Overdrive works as it should. The AC does not work. Runs and drives exceptionally well. Current odometer reading 226k miles +/-.
Purchased in 2017. Stored winters, both by the mariner and by me. Zero non-California winters. I found it online in Westbrook Maine when I was living in New Hampshire. If you check Carfax, the NH regs are mine. The prior (Eastport ME) reg was the mariner. I do not know why there are gaps in the Carfax records, both in the car's early life and also prior to its being driven east. I have parts receipts that place it in California in 2014.
No structural rust. Floors are absolutely solid. The underside of this car looks like a New England car would have in 1984.
A complete, brand new IPD Volvo B21 Intercooler kit, still in the original box, is available as a separate purchase for $2000. The IPD part number was 8360, showing fitment for the 240 manual transmission cars.
Absolutely lovely car that turns heads wherever it goes.
VEHICLE WAS SOLD IN 2020. THE INTERCOOLER KIT IS STILL AVAILABLE.
